Both commercial and recreational fishers will need to be aware of the new rules that come into force in March 2009
Sunshine Coast anglers will face need to comply to new legal sizes and bag limits for their catches from March 2009.
Primary industries and fisheries minister Tim Mulherin has announced a raft of changes to fishing in Queensland that will affect commercial operators and recreational anglers.
The changes include bag limits for popular species like bream, flathead and whiting.
Fishers will be only use four crab pots at any time and the dilly pot will be phased out to stop them injuring turtles and dugong if they float away.
Mr Mulherin said the new rules would strike a balance between the needs of commercial operators and the needs or recreational anglers.
